If PeriData is fully integrated with a medical record software, the database files are on a server. In case of correct positioning of the database directory they are included in the daily backup routine.
If PeriData is only partially or not at all integrated into the medical record software, there is only one database. For speed reasons, this database is on the local PC, which is connected to the perimeter device. In this case, , an automatic copy routine must make a daily copy to a server. Thus, the data are included in the daily backup routine.
Since March 2026, the PeriData program has a backup routine that stores all newly imported data additionally immediately into a backup database. Each month a new database is created. Concerning e.g. March 2026, the database files are named "PeridataBackup-Import-2026-03.phf" (and .phd). The monthly backup enables a restore of particular examination data even after years, if you know, in which month the examination was done.
The backup directory has to be defined in the Options > Tab Display + Backup. If this field is empty, there will be no backup. The directory should be positioned on the server.
The Import Backup is additional. It does not replace the required backup of the original database(s). They cannot be restored with the Import Backup-
Note: If older data from earlier examinations were transferred they are stored at the day of transmission, in the current monthly database.
Note: There is only a backup of data that are coming directly from the perimeter device. Data that came into the "proper" database by copy and paste are NOT saved additionally in the monthly database.
