If you open a database, which is already opened by another workstation with full control and write permission, you get only read permission for your own workstation. Data import is not possible. The visual field display is possible without any restrictions. But you cannot import new data. Also you cannot change or delete data. A database can also be in read-only mode because the database file is writeprotected (like the example-database EXAMPLE.PHF) . The read-only mode is shown by a red cross over the PeriData symbol.
If the program option "Viewing Mode" is ON, all databases at this workstation are opened in read-only mode. The advantage is that the data reception at the perimeter workstation cannot be disturbed.
The option is selected in the Menu Options > Tab General. This button in the upper task bar indicates the status of the option "Viewing Mode": Button colored = option active, button gray = option off.
All workstation are set to Viewing Mode = ON. Only at the "Perimeter workstation" that receives data (via cable or file transfer) the option is OFF, the program is has full control (write enabled)
