You need a special cable ! You can order the cable or a special adapter from the PeriData Software GmbH. A standard cable will not work !!
If you want to make the cable yourself, use the following description
Pin Setting:
This is the plug at the perimeter side
HFA 7xx (old series): The cable is plugged into the LEFT female socket (port no. 1) at the rear of the HFA.
HFA 7xxi (i-series): There is only one socket
If you are using the special adapter with a standard cable, fix the adapter (mini adapter, very small, yellow in the image) on the HFA side and after that plug the standard cable in.
The cable is plugged into a RS-232 connector (9 pole male) at the PC. These connectors are called COM port or serial interface. Please identify the number of the COM port and note it for the configuration. The COM number has to be between 1 and 4 for technical reasons.
If there is no COM port, use a serial-to-USB-adapter. Only the COM number must be configurated once with the device manager, all other settings are set by the PeriData program. Choose a free number between 1 and 4.
Using cable length over 5m or cable extensions, the signals are weak and often corrupted or no data are received.
