Sending examination data from the Humphrey Field Analyzer 2 (Model 7xx)

Send immediately after the exam ("automatic")

The dialog "Do you want to save and transmit this test?" appears after the exam. Press "YES". The perimeter saves the data to the harddisk and the USB stick (duration about 10 sec), after that the data is sent (duration about 2 seconds).

If "and transmit" is missing in the dialog, then the configuration of the export interface ("data transmission") at the perimeter is not correct

Sending of stored examination data

  • File Functions (symbol floppydisk)
  • Transfer Tests
  • Source = Hard Drive (or Floppy / USB Stick)
  • Destination = Classic serial
  • Export Format = HFA II serial
  • PROCEED
  • Enter Patient Name (blank shows all)
  • ENTER
  • Select one or several tests by clicking on the test(s)
      or
"Select all" (sends the complete data of the hard disk, see also Old Data Management)
  • CONTINUE
  • "You have selected ... test(s) to be transferred - Are you sure?" >> YES
  • Tests are transferred -- transmission lasts about 3 seconds per test at 9600 baud
  • "4 test(s) transferred"
-- Note: This message appears even if no data is send or no cable is connected, because the Humphrey Perimeter does not make a transmission handshake

  • Troubleshooting

Data does not arrive in PeriData

    1. Is there an open database in PeriData?
    2. Check the import directory ("C:\PeriDataExchange", if you did not choose a different directory). If you do not find a file with the extension .HFA, then the cable transmission failed > go to the next paragraph
    3. If .hfa files are "waiting", then open the Menu Extra > Options > Tab Perimeter and check the settings

    The cable transmission failed

If you found out by the preceeding check that no data are read from the COM port, then check the following:
    1. Is the cable plugged in tightly on both sides?
    2. COM-No: Is the cable plugged into the right port at the PC, or is the adapter configurated with the right COM no, resp. (device manager)?
    3. Is the cable plugged into the right port at the HFA2 (elder instruments have 3 ports, the left one is correct)
    4. Is the configuration of PeriData correct (Options > Perimeter), are the interface parameter set to "Default"?
    5. Are the interface parameter at the HFA3 identical with the Peridata settings?
    6. Was the sending procedure performed according to the transmission rules (see link above)?
    7. Is there any data stream from the perimeter or is it a technical defect? Check it with a physical serial port tester (RS-232 tester).
